The junction between Triqil-Kappella tax-Xagħra withTriq Torri tal-Kaptan is “difficult and dangerous” for drivers. This was expressed by the Naxxar council to the Local Wardens Northern Region on March 12, 2014.

After witnessing many accidents, I had taken the initiative of writing to the council asking it to instruct wardens to try to eliminate the danger at a popular road junction at Naxxar. The council wrote to the Northern Region, also informing it that a van is being illegally parked on the corner practically on a daily basis.

The wardens ignored the local council and the danger remains to this very day. I myself have written to the Northern Region asking for action and still no progress.

I asked the council if it was possible to stop paying the wardens since they were not giving the locality the service it deserved but the council said this was not possible.

Last September, I made a formal complaint to the LES Management Committee, which falls under the Tourism Ministry, and is supposed to monitor the operations of the local wardens.

Once again, no reply, notwithstanding reminders, and no action, leaving the junction dangerous for drivers and with regular accidents.

Roll on the new agency to regulate better the local enforcement system. The citizen certainly deserves better.
