The Viennese trio Trikolon will be giving a classical performance in aid of Dar Frate Jacoba and Kenya Mission International. Among the pieces on the programme are works by Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Bauer, Schumann, Ravel and Schostakovich.
Trikolon is led by pianist Doris Lindner, whose name is already familiar to Maltese classical music lovers, having led the Trio Frizzante in a concert at the Manoel Theatre.
Trikolon was founded by Lindner, Verena Nothegger and Stefanie Huber, who have all studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and have gone on to play together in different formations, including different chamber music ensembles, such as piano quintets and oktets. The ensemble has worked steadily to enlarge its repertoire, including classical as well as contemporaray music and extending their horizon to jazz pieces.
The trio is greatly influenced by internationally-renowned musicians such as Evgenia Epshtein, Patrick Jüdt, Othmar Müller, Johannes Meissl, Anita Mitterer and Péter Nagy and the Quartetto di Cremona.
The ensemble performs regularly in various Austrian concert venues and recently came back from a tour in Romania. Earlier this year it won the International Chamber Music Competition Svirel in Slovenia.
The concert is being held on Wednesday at the Amphitheatre at the Family Park, Marsascala.
