Malta Public Transport said today it would be introducing another 40 new buses in service by the second week of August.

A team of company engineer is in Turkey to inspect the vehicles at the  Otokar factory  in Sakarya. The buses are tailored for the Maltese roads and climate.

MPT introduced 40 new buses this month.

The new buses are 9.6 meters long and narrower than the other buses in the fleet. The shorter buses provide increased flexibility and maneuverability in the narrower roads in Malta. All are low floor and thus provide easy access for wheelchair and pushchair users. They have two doors, intended to allow people to board and alight from the buses efficiently therefore reducing boarding time.

The buses are equipped with a EURO 6 engine and fitted with a six-cylinder Cummins engine.
