Former Russia midfielder Diniyar Bilyaletdinov will play under his father Rinat at Rubin Kazan after signing on as a free agent.

Rubin finished fifth in the league last season under coach Rinat, who joined the club at the beginning of 2014.

In 2009, Bilyaletdinov left Lokomotiv Moscow to join Everton, where he played 59 matches and scored eight goals.

After three seasons at the Premier League club, the 30-year-old moved to Spartak Moscow and was recently playing on loan at Anzhi Makhachkala and Torpedo Moscow.

Adelaide appoint Barca great Amor

A-League club Adelaide United reluctantly agreed to release Spanish coach Josep Gombau from the remainder of his contract and installed former Barcelona midfielder Guillermo Amor in his place yesterday.

Gombau, a former Barcelona youth team coach, joined Adelaide in 2013 and helped the South Australian club to sixth place in the A-League and the FFA Cup title last season.

The 39-year-old had been linked with a post at Major League Soccer (MLS) club New York City but he said his decision to leave Adelaide was made for family reasons.

Farfan leaves Schalke

Al Jazira have signed Peru international Jefferson Farfan from Schalke 04 on a three-year contract, the United Arab Emirates club said yesterday.

“Farfan joins Al Jazira on a three-year contract,” the club said on Twitter.

The deal for the 30-year-old winger cost a reported seven million euros.

The speedy Farfan, who spent seven years in the Bundesliga with Schalke, missed much of last season due to injuries and had asked for a transfer despite having a year left on his contract.

De Bruyne needed to go – Mourinho

Jose Mourinho says he has no regrets about selling Kevin de Bruyne, insisting the winger lacked the necessary mentality to succeed at Chelsea.

Mourinho sold De Bruyne to Wolfsburg for a deal worth £18 million in January 2014 and the Belgian has blossomed in Germany, helping his new club to second in the Bundesliga last season with 10 goals.

De Bruyne has claimed he was never given a chance to impress at Chelsea but Mourinho maintains it was the player’s decision to quit Stamford Bridge.

“That is unfair because I wanted to keep him and he told me it was not in his personality to be competing for a position in the team,” Mourinho said.

“He needed a team where he knows he can play every game. He needs to know that he is important.”

Austin likely to leave – Ramsey

QPR manager Chris Ramsey admits Charlie Austin is likely to leave the club this summer.

Austin, who hit 18 Premier League goals last season, has been linked with moves to Newcastle, Leicester, West Ham and Crystal Palace.

But relegated Rangers have already turned down big-money bids and are holding out for more than £15 million for the 26-year-old striker.

Ramsey said: “We have to be realistic. It’s unlikely he’ll stay. We want to keep him but it’s unlikely.

“The club is in a position that it needs to recoup some money and I think for his ambitions he wants to keep playing in the Premier League to go to the Euros.”

Obi Mikel keen to stay at Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel says he has no intention of leaving Stamford Bridge.

The 28-year-old Nigerian, the Blues’ second-longest serving player behind captain John Terry, has been linked with moves to United Arab Emirates club Al Ain and Turkish outfit Fenerbahce this summer.

However, he insists he will see out the remaining two years of his contract in west London.

“I want to stay and the manager wants me to stay,” he said.

“I’ve got two years here and I’m happy.

“I like to be somewhere where I have friends and family. It’s like my family here and every day I come to work it is like coming in to see my family.”

Veteran Brienza joins Bologna

Former Palermo forward Franco Brienza has signed a one-year contract with newly-promoted Bologna, the Serie A club have announced.

“FC Bologna 1909 announces the outright signing of attacker Franco Brienza,” Bologna an-nounced on their website.

The 36-year-old was a free agent after leaving relegated Cesena in the summer but will continue his top-flight career after committing to the Rossoblu, who won the Serie B play-off final last month.

Brienza, who has two Italy caps, can also number Siena, Reggina and Atalanta among his previous clubs.
