Swiss dairy cows yearning for a drink of water during the unusually dry summer, have found relief through Swiss army water airlifts.

A heatwave in Switzerland's Jura mountains has left farm animals parched.

But for thirsty dairy cows, relief has arrived - more than 6 million liters of water airlifted in by the military.

The Swiss army has installed artificial reservoirs to supply 20,000 animals with drinking water.

Military officials say the helicopters used were already in use for training, so the cost to save the cattle was marginal.

And these happy cows will certainly drink to that..
