Swimming along a section of the Birzebbuga coast has been banned because of an oil spill from the San Luċjan Oil Terminal.

The Environmental Health Directorate said bathing is prohibited on the coast near Triq il-Qajjenza pending the necessary clean-up.

Officers from the Environmental Health Directorate, Civil Protection and Transport Malta are keeping the area under surveillance.
