The tallinja bus card is becoming increasingly more popular, with more than 60,000 bus trips being made on a daily basis using the card, Malta Public Transport said today.

More than 90,000 passengers have used the card since its launch and have thus benefited from reduced fares, the c. To date, almost 180,000 registrations have been received and more than 170,000 cards have been delivered to customers.

“We are satisfied with the number of customers that are using the tallinja card on the public transport network”, said Daniel Grech, Commercial Director of Malta Public Transport.

“The key to introducing complex technologies such as the tallinja card is to make it as simple as possible for the customer. It is therefore very important to constantly listen to our customers and to immediately put into effect any feedback that they pass on to us. Furthermore, more than 7,000 passengers have reached their monthly cap. This means these passengers will be travelling for free during the rest of the month.” 

The company said that the ticket refund process  (for those who could not use their card or did not receive it on time in the early days of its launch) will be open until the 31 July.

The eligibility for the refunds to include those that registered until July 2. Therefore, customers who applied for a tallinja card by July 2 and bought a ticket in cash from the bus till their card was delivered are eligible for a refund of the difference in price.

Customers were requested to write their ID card number, tallinja card customer number and telephone number on the back of every receipt and mail them  to P.O. Box 10, Marsa.

The refunds will be processed by the end of August and will be credited directly to the tallinja card.
