The draws for the new 2015-16 BOV Women’s League were held at the Malta FA headquarters in Ta’ Qali, earlier this week.

The championship will see 13 teams competing in two sections, six in the top flight and seven others in Division Two.

The draw was conducted by MFA deputy secretary general Rodney Pisani and BOV media manager Joyce Tabone.

“This is the fifth consecutive season that the bank is supporting the women’s football competitions,” Tabone said.

“Over these years, we have witnessed the flourishing of local talent and we are also proud to see players getting the opportunity to play beyond our shores and experience international competition.”

BOV League champions Hibernians get their title defence going with a match against Luxol Raiders.

Hibs won the double last season. The major threat for the Paolites should again come from Birkirkara who start their league trek against Pembroke Athleta. The other match-day one fixture will be Kirkop vs Mgarr United.

Opening round of matches from Division Two: Tarxien Rainbows vs Kirkop United ‘B’; Hamrun Spartans vs Mosta; Swieqi United vs Sliema Wanderers.

The other team in competition are Gozo FC.
