The halls of HSBC UK Contact Centre Malta were gripped by fragrances of cakes as hundreds of employees got busy baking – or buying.

A total of 30 support staff members and 24 new recruits took part in the event and altogether raised more than €2,000 for NGO Victim Support Malta (VSM).

VSM provides support and assistance to victims of crime, such as thefts and burglaries, domestic violence, sexual assault, harassment, discrimination, and cybercrime. It can be reached on 2122 8333.

Emcare showcases Scope

Emcare recently showcased one of its health and care solutions, Scope, at an event organised by Atlas Insurance as part of its sponsorship of Saħħtek: The University of Malta Health and Well-being Study.

Standing for ‘safely communicating health observations in a productive and efficient way’, Scope enables individuals to conduct routine medical tests and instantly capture the readings electronically through health monitoring devices, such as a blood glucose meter and a blood pressure monitor. The readings are automatically transmitted to an online platform, updating the person’s electronic medical record, and raising the alert if they fall outside the patient’s normal thresholds.

Saħħtek aims to determine the proportion and number of persons suffering from diabetes, hypertension, lack of physical activity, hyperlipidaemia and obesity currently residing in Malta.

GasanMamo supports drink-driving campaign

GasanMamo Insurance is one of the many entities supporting a national campaign to raise awareness on the dangers involved when driving under the influence of alcohol.

This campaign, undertaken by Bay Radio, also has the backing of Aġenzija Sedqa, Drink Aware Malta, Transport Malta and the Times of Malta.

Drink driving accounted for at least 13 per cent of all road fatalities last year. The #dontrisk campaign uses a positive message, encouraging those who plan to go out and drink to make arrangements to avoid driving, whether using public transport, taking a taxi or nominating a driver who will not drink.
