Not only has this government made one gaffe after another with regards to the environment, not only are we witnessing amateurish governance with cases of misconduct that are being unveiled almost on a daily basis, the natural sequence is another attack on the morality of our nation.

On July 8, it was unveiled that the government intends to legalise sex shops. This is another episode that clearly indicates that this administration is directing the country to its lowest levels. The simplistic excuse that Justice Minister Owen Bonnici presented is that “adults are to be treated as adults”.

Why does Bonnici think that the situation is the contrary in Malta? This is sheer populism. What are his plans: to turn certain zones of Malta into red-light districts?

Has he the courage to tell us who are those who really stand to gain? What is his real agenda? Is this another reward for those who were met on the fourth floor on the eve of the election?

On a different level, is Bonnici so naïve about the consequences of these shops? Is he ignorant about the state of the society where these shops were introduced? We should be told the truth.

Malta is in dire need of an honest administration and politicians of complete integrity.
