Justice Minister Owen Bonnici has announced a series of reforms to the laws covering public morality and censorship, aimed at spurring freedom of artistic expression while, at the same time, providing better protection of the vulnerable.

Generally, laws will be less strict, treating adults as adults, and no longer considering the Roman Catholic religion as deserving of special treatment.

In a short comment he gave to TVM during a news item reporting the proposed reforms, Bonnici said: “God willing, these laws will soon be in place.”

Not a very happy choice of words!
