Instead of calling journalists stupid, even if he clearly believes that journalists who ask awkward questions are stupid, Premier Muscat should have told us precisely what the Huawei "investment" means for the country.

Let me explain why, in words of as few syllables as possible, so that even the stupidest journalist can follow.  If this gets me called names by Kurt Farrugia, so be it.

Taking up a small office, with the pious hope that maybe one Maltese will employed in due course, to test telecomms equipment that might, perhaps, be relevant if 5G ever comes on stream in a few years time, is not an "investment", even if it is done by a mega-enormous company.

Testing such equipment will not involve the type of investment GO, Melita and Vodafone have already put in place in Malta (not by means of the intervention of Sai Mizzi Lang or Premier Joseph Muscat, either) and any money used for this purpose will a) be paid to foreign suppliers of the testing equipment (Huawei themselves, probably) and b) be negligible in the greater scheme of things.

So before telling journalists that they are stupid for asking what the €13,000 per month (in salary alone) for the last two years paid to Minister the Hon. "Shame on you" Konrad Mizzi's wife (without a call for applications for the job) Premier Muscat should have considered who is being stupid here.

Ms Mizzi Lang herself is clearly not fit for purpose, to use a phrase her husband has obsessively repeated, in tones that render him not for purpose, while screeching at the Leader of the Opposition in the House.

Dr Shame-on-You was not referring to his lady wife, of course, but the old one about being naked in glass-houses and chucking rocks applies.

And before resorting to school-yard insults in the manner of his Lord & Master, Premier Muscat's Communications Officer, Kurt Farrugia, should have given some thought to his own credibility and to the facts.  He might think we've forgotten his miserable performance during the "OK, siehbi" debacle that preceded thankfully no-longer-Minster Manwel Mallia's summary dismissal, but he can rest assured that we haven't.

That Kurt Farrugia is unfit for purpose is an opinion that can safely be put out there, on the evidence. His is another salary that can be saved, in fact.

Ms Sai Mizzi Lang, wife of Premier Joseph Muscat's clearly most favourite Minister despite his utter insufficiency for purpose, has also failed to show that she is worth the money being paid to her to live and "work" in her country.

Despite Kurt Farrugia's puerile arguments to the contrary, when Ms Mizzi Lang met the Leader of the Opposition, the only aspect of her performance that was impressive was the utterly low quality of it.

Simon Busuttil was being kind, because he is that sort of person, when he described his meeting with her as "bizarre".  Ms Mizzi Lang's preceding interview, carried in glorious colour all over the place, about the Huawei "investment" (excuse me while I snigger) showed that the woman has absolutely no idea what she is doing and that it is fair to ask, frankly, whose interests she is representing in China.

It's certainly not Air Malta's, since it seems that she has been kept away from those discussions.

Incidentally, what's all this about air-borne spa services?

If I am lucky enough to be sitting behind someone getting a head-massage, am I going to have the pleasure of the masseuse's nether regions hovering over me for the duration?

Or if I'm in the aisle-seat while someone is  getting a foot massage in the window seat, is the masseuse going to be leaning over me to do her thing?

If so, the only happy ending I will be getting is when the flight is over and I can get away from the process.

But getting back to Sai Mizzi Lang, would Premier Muscat please stop treating us all like idiots who believe everything that falls from his lips without question?  He clearly doesn't even trust her to answer questions (stupid or not) in his august presence, as his dismissive attitude towards her demonstrated.

He should dismiss her completely, and save the money, even if this means incurring the wrath of her husband.
