The Mexican police have issued CCTV footage showing the moment drug kingpin El Chapo broke out of a high security prison

Drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman his behind the partition wall in his cell, then disappeared down a long tunnel.

Prison officials said the partition walls were designed to give prisoners privacy while washing.

Guzman, Mexico's most notorious drug lord, escaped on Saturday night through a mile long tunnel.

Officials said the tunnel would have required noisy digging equipment and are investigating whether prison employees helped in the escape.

The prison break has raised pressure on President Enrique Pena Nieto to curb corruption.

Last year when Guzman was re-arrested after a previous jail break Pena Nieto said another escape by the drug kingpin would be "unforgivable."
