A few weeks ago, a local resident contacted a member of the Senglea local council in connection with potential danger to children who happen to be playing at the marina.

A massive block of concrete has been permanently built on the edge of the quay, right in the middle of the marina.

This concrete block serves as a foundation to a wooden pole, which is raised on this block once a year to hold the traditional event of ġostra during the locality’s feast.

When the ġostra ends, the wooden pole is removed. However, two large iron studs are partly embedded in the upper part of the concrete, leaving half of the studs fully exposed.

These iron studs are dangerous to young children who happen to be playing there and often go on top of the upper part of the concrete block.

The local council should take immediate action and have these studs removed.

In view of health and safety, a copy of this letter is being forwarded to the police to make sure the job is done because the health and safety of children comes first and foremost.
