Balzan FC will be holding a Serie A Skills Challenge Camp for young players, starting on Friday.

The camp will be led by four UEFA-qualified coaches from Italy including former Milan trio Andrea Icardi, Andrea Manzo and Giuseppe Incocciati.

Between them they played over 800 games in the Italian top flight in almost a decade.

Balzan FC Academy head Timmy Gambin said the Skills Challenge Camp will be of a high calibre.

“The camp will be conducted by professional youth coaches with lots of experience,” he said.

“This continues with our tradition of many years – having top coaches to assess our players.

“During their time in Malta, the Italians will also work with our coaches at the academy and they will be helping us to continue with our development and improve our own training programmes to the highest of levels.”

Academy technical director Ludvic Bartolo said Balzan FC have all cards in place for the Challenge Cup and reckons it will be a great experience for all those involved.

“This will be a useful exercise not only for the players but our coaches as well. They will learn the latest training systems and techniques while working with our guest coaches.

“In the last 18 months or so, the Balzan FC Academy has come a long way to achieving its long-term goal of becoming the best football school around. So, visits of this kind are very welcome and beneficial to our sport.”

Balzan FC said the training camp is open to all players from different clubs.
