A fight between two flatmates over missing cash landed both in jail after they were charged with injuring each other during the altercation last night.

Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona heard how Mohammed El Teeb Amer, a 29-year-old Palestinian, and his flatmate Andou Hassan Issan argued over cash the former had found missing from their Birzebbuga apartment.

The two appeared in court charged with slightly injuring each other with sharp instruments.

Mr Amer, a plasterer, was further charged with attempting to seriously injure his flatmate and with relapsing.

Inspector Chantelle Casha charged the two men separately. She told the court that although the wounds were inflicted with a knife, the injuries were superficial and had been classified by doctors as slight.

Magistrate Micallef Trigona remanded the two men in custody.

Lawyers Franco Debono, Marion Camilleri and Angie Muscat appeared for Mr Amer while lawyer Noel Bartolo appeared for Mr Issan.
