Charles Micallef (July 7) is right when he laments the sad state of toilets accessible to the public.
Over the years, there has been progress in this matter but much, much more needs to be done.
Why not have a sustained educational programme on radio, TV and in the press to imbue the public with civic pride? Clean, well-appointed and well-kept toilets are the marks of a civilised people.
The state of many toilets in our country is, to put it bluntly, a national disgrace.
