Hotel Phoenicia’s executive chef Saul Halevi was invited to participate in Festa Vico in Italy, a gastronomy event that combines renowned chefs with great causes and raises substantial amounts of money for charity and children in need.

Festa Vico represents the top-tier of food quality in Italy and beyond. Among the best-known names who participated this year were Gennaro Esposito, the creator and patron of the event and owner of the two Michelin-star restaurant Torre del Saracino, Antonino Cannavacciuolo, chef of Villa Crespi, as well as world-renowned chef Massimo Bottura, who has just been awarded three Michelin stars for his Osteria Francescana, ranked number two among the best 50 restaurants worldwide.

The event is a non-competitive one, allowing top chefs to share knowledge and techniques while working together on challenging food dishes.

Halevi prepared a signature dish from Pegasus restaurant: red Maltese prawns in kataifi pastry with an emulsion white wine butter and capsicum, which was appreciated by his colleagues.

The event took place in different locations in the town of Vico Equense. On the first day, emerging young chefs enlivened the streets in Vico Equense’s centre and presented a new way of consuming food; for example, they served the starter at the flower shop, the main course at a newsstand and the dessert at a clothing boutique.

A charity dinner was held on the second day, where more than 15 national and internationally renowned chefs prepared a sumptuous dinner for 200 guests. The third evening was titled ‘Night of Stars‘ and featured the dishes of 60 chefs, masters of pizza and street food.
