Q: I recently ordered six internal doors, which were delivered to me more than a month after the agreed date. To my disappointment, one arrived small and another two doors were damaged.

I obviously refused to accept these doors and did not sign for their delivery. Even though I did not want the damaged doors, they were still installed together with a temporary door instead of the small one.

I immediately complained with the seller, who promised me he would order new doors and that these would be delivered in seven weeks. The time has now passed but unfortunately, the new doors have not arrived. What rights do I have?

A: Since the doors you ordered were delivered to you damaged and since the trader is taking a long time to replace them with suitable ones, legally, you may request that the contract of sale you have with this trader is terminated and hence request a full refund of the money you paid for the doors.

Should the trader refuse to accept your request for refund, you may then proceed with filing a complaint with the Office for Consumer Affairs.
