The cast of Doctor Who has been immortalised in Lego for a new interactive toys-to-life video game.

Lego Dimensions will see figurines of the main cast – Peter Capaldi, Jenna Coleman and Michelle Gomez – interacting with other characters such as Batman, Lord of the Rings’ Gandalf and others.

The game uses an interactive Lego pad which is plugged into games consoles. Players can put up to a maximum of seven toys into the game by placing them on the pad.

The characters then appear in the game, and can interact with each other on screen.

Speaking at the launch at Comic-Con International in San Diego, Capaldi joked about his toy figurine saying: “I can be lost down the back of sofas for the rest of my life now.”

“I was really excited, I don’t even have to play the game, I could just watch it, it’s like a movie,” he said after seeing the trailer and some game play for the first time, “I was amazed at the production details, the quality, the drama, the music, everything.”

Capaldi, who is the 12th Doctor, said he felt proud and privileged that the game had launched during his incarnation as the Doctor.

“I’m only here because of all of those other guys. I’m just knocked out by it, I think it’s enormous fun.”

Lego Dimensions launches in the UK at the end of September.
