Langerak: Stuttgart goalkeeper Mitchell Langerak will miss the start of the season after pulling his hamstring in training. The Australian only joined the Swabians last week from Borussia Dortmund, but now faces between four and six weeks on the sidelines. As a result, he is not likely to be fit for their opening Bundesliga game of the season against Cologne.

Vossen: Burnley have agreed a deal to sign striker Jelle Vossen from KRC Genk for an undisclosed fee. The Belgium international will join the relegated Clarets on a three-year contract, subject to the 26-year-old passing a medical and agreeing personal terms. Vossen spent last campaign at Championship rivals Middlesbrough and scored nine goals.

Henry: QPR midfielder Karl Henry has taken up the option of a further year’s contract. The 32-year-old, part of the squad relegated from the Premier League last season, has activated a 12-month extension built into the contract he signed on arrival from Wolves in 2013.

Gyan: Ghana captain and striker Asamoah Gyan is expected to leave Emirati champions Al Ain and sign a lucrative deal with Chinese Super League title challengers Shanghai SIPG. Gyan, who has scored 95 goals in 83 matches over a four-year spell in the UAE, will make the move today and can expect an increase in his weekly salary of $250,000. Gyan joined Al Ain from English Premier League side Sunderland in 2011.

Hammered 46-0: The Federated States of Micronesia suffered their third record defeat when they were thrashed 46-0 by Vanuatu in an Olympic qualifying tournament yesterday. Jean Kaltack was Vanuatu’s top scorer, bagging 16 goals in the rout. Micronesia were also beaten 30-0 by Tahiti and 38-0 by Fiji at the Pacific Games.
