The Fiera l-Kbira at Montekristo Estates is to go ahead as planned after the Police Licensing Appeals Board yesterday issued the necessary permit.

This had been withheld when the planning authority objected saying there were a number of enforcement orders on the site where the fair was being held.

Montecristo’s legal representative Jean Paul Sammut said this morning that the company filed its appeal on Saturday, which, according to law had to be processed within 48 hours.

The Appeals Board heard the case yesterday during which Mepa’s Trade Unit argued against the permit because of the enforcement orders and Montecristo held that nothing had been changed since the permit, when the permit had been issued.

Moreover, it said, the company was now cooperating with the authorities and seeing to its enforcement orders.

The police board ruled in Montecristo’s favour.
