Duisburg: German second-division club Duisburg have told fans to stop travelling to their stadium in a bid to buy tickets for their DFB-Pokal first-round clash with Schalke since the queues are already too long. Lengthy lines of fans built up outside the MSV-Arena yesterday morning as tickets for the August 8 clash went on sale. Just after midday, the club asked fans to stay away as they were unlikely to be served before the ticket offices close at 7pm. The encounter is set to be a 31,500 sell-out.

Capoue: Watford have signed midfielder Etienne Capoue from Tottenham for a club-record fee. The 26-year-old has penned a four-year contract with the Premier League new boys, and is now set to join up with the Hornets for pre-season training.

Hecking: Dieter Hecking’s contract as coach of Wolfsburg is about to be extended, according to the club’s director of sport Klaus Allofs. Hecking arrived at Wolfsburg in 2013 and led them to their best finish last season since they won the title in 2009. “I don’t know if we’re going to get it done in time for the start of the season, but Dieter Hecking is going to extend his contract with us,” Allofs said.

Treble: Ferencvaros completed a rare cup treble in four months after seeing off champions Videoton 3-0 away in the Hungarian Super Cup final late Sunday in Szekesfehervar. Ferencvaros claimed last season’s League Cup with a 2-1 win over Debrecen in April and lifted the Hungarian Cup by beating Videoton 4-0 at home in the final on May 20.
