Lionel Richie & The Commodores’ The Definitive Collection stormed to number one on the UK’s official albums chart after a triumphant set at Glastonbury Festival the previous weekend.

The album, which previously reached number 10 on its release in 2003, jumped 103 positions this week. The feat also marked Richie’s first UK number one album since Back to Front, 23 years ago. He told OfficialCharts.com: “I was overwhelmed performing at Glastonbury in front of all those people and for the fans to make the album number one is unbelievable. The UK has always been a special place for me, thank you, I love you all.”

The Glastonbury theme continued as Florence & The Machine and James Bay were number two and three respectively with How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful and Chaos and the Calm.

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift’s 1989 held firm at number four, and Ed Sheeran’s x stayed at five.
