A 49-year-old unemployed man from Cospicua has been remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to a burglary from a house in Mosta.

Alfred Attard denied forcing open the front door to the residence of an 81-year-old woman in Triq il-Mithna Qadima. He was also charged with theft, damaging private property, trespassing and handling stolen items.

Before Magistrate Neville Camilleri, Mr Attard pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him. He did not make a request for bail and was held in preventive custody.

Police Inspectors Mark Mercieca and Nicholas Vella prosecuted while lawyer Stephanie Abela appeared for the man.
