Next year's Isle of MTV concert will be held on June 28, Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis announced this morning.

He was speaking as he toured the stage and facilities on the granaries in Floriana ahead of this year's concert, which will be held tomorrow.

Dr Zammit Lewis said he had announced the date of next year's concert early in order to help in promotional events. Next year's concert will be special in that it will be the 10th year since the concert started being held.

The minister and Paul Bugeja, CEO of the Malta Tourism Authority underlined the importance the concert has for the attraction of young tourists to Malta.

Mr Bugeja said the segment of tourists who are under 24 years old is growing, and currently accounts for a fifth of total tourist arrivals.

The Isle of MTV is the biggest free-of-charge concert in Europe, regularly drawing more than 50,000 people.

The line-up this year features Martin Garrix, Jason Derulo, Echosmith, Tori Kelly and OMI.

Jason Derulo arrived in Malta this morning, escorted by two bodyguards. (see video above)
