I was always fascinated by the snail carved out of the rock close to the salt pans at Qbajjar. I have visited this several times together with my family and friends and always wondered who the sculptor was. Finally, I did get the answer, thanks to a letter by Andrew Armatys from Għajnsielem in Times of Malta on February 21.

Not too long ago we experienced one of our best walks ever, starting from Għarb, all the way to Qbajjar. Eventually, we arrived in front of this famous snail which I was keen to see again.

Unfortunately, our walk ended in dismay and anger, as someone left their tyre marks on this landmark. I hope an effort will be made to clean it up.
