The overwhelming majority of those who recently successfully sat for the entrance exam to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were graduates of Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies (Medac) at the University of Malta.
With Malta due to host the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, numerous other Commonwealth conferences, the EU-Africa Summit, the EU presidency, and the Valletta 2018 Capital of Europe, career opportunities for those graduating with the multidisciplinary academic programme and negotiating skills set that Medac provides will only increase.
The transformation of the Mediterranean region also demands highly trained diplomatic specialists who can assist governmental entities and private companies better understand the changing nature of the world we must now operate in.
In the past 25 years more than 700 students have graduated from Medac and are engaged all over the world in the public and private sectors. Medac’s track record as an institution of higher learning that focuses on Mediterranean affairs with a particular academic focus on international relations, international law, international history, international economics and diplomatic studies, prepares students to be able to participate in this career niche area where such specialists are in short supply.
