A group of cyclists taking part in the Actavis Lifecycle Challenge this morning left for the land of fire and ice to raise funds for renal patients and the Transplant Support Group.

William Saliba, 62, is taking part in the challenge for the ninth consecutive time and said he was looking forward to covering around 2,000km in Iceland even though he admitted that it was always a challenge.

The group will be going full circle around Iceland and is expected to complete the ride on July 17.

Family and friends this morning went to the airport to bid their loved ones goodbye and good luck before they embarked on their gruelling journey.
