Police Day activities started this morning with activities and displays at the Notre Dame Ditch in Floriana.

The activities, including concerts by the police band, displays by the Dog Section and the Precision Drill Team, in the presence of the Police Mounted Section, are being held on the occasion of the 201st anniversary of the foundation of the Malta Police Force.

Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Abela visited the activities accompanied by Police Commissioner Michael Cassar.

He discussed with the police present the importance to remain close to the people and encouraged them to continue to organise activities in the community saying this was an effective means for the public to become more conscious of their work while they would be closer to society.

The minister encouraged the public to attend the events which will continue in different localities until July 10.

Activities at Notre Dame Ditch continue until 10pm today.
