May had the lowest number of registered unemployed in almost 20 years, Employment Minister Evarist Bartolo said.

Referring to data issued by the National Statistics Office, Mr Bartolo said just over 5,300 people registered last May – a decrease of more than 1,800 people when compared to the same period last year. This meant that one out of four people found employment.

This success was the result of the country’s economic growth together with work-friendly measures that were introduced by the government, he said.
