There is no new information that suggests that Malta can be in danger of a terrorist attack, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said this evening.

Speaking in Parliament, Dr Muscat condemned the terrorist attacks last Friday on a factory in France, a holiday resort in Tunisia and a mosque in Kuwait.

He said that while the Maltese should always be vigilant, there was no cause for alarm.

One, he said, could not exclude anyone especially considering that the attack in France was carried out by one person armed with a knife and a truck.

If any Maltese observed something unusual they should inform the country’s forces of law and order but there was no new information that indicated that Malta could be in danger of attack, he said.

Opposition leader Simon Busuttil also condemned the attacks and expressed solidarity with the victims' families.
