What is something a person should not know even if it is about oneself? That he has a terminal illness and is about to die in a few months’ time of course.

It is so heartless and cruel telling a patient, especially if he is alone at the time, that he is at death’s door.

There is another way of tackling the matter and that is by sending for his immediate family and informing them.

God himself was afraid of death let alone a human being living on this earth. If the patient asks the fatal question “Am I going to die?”, the doctor’s answer could be something like, “We’ve all got to die sometime, some sooner than later.”

Tell anything to the patient but not that he’s going to be six feet under in a few weeks or months. Would the doctor or consultant say merciless words to their own mother of sister? I wonder!
