Lately, a relative of mine was treated at Sir Paul Boffa Hospital in Floriana. I visited this person in Ward 1 and, while there, I had the opportunity to speak to other patients as well.
The patients spent most of the time in the ward but, every now and then, they went out in the verandah of the hospital, which overlooks the marvellous Grand Harbour, for some fresh air.
There, they enjoyed themselves watching boats crossing from one end to another, cruise liners entering and leaving the harbour, the churches’ domes and belfries and the yacht marina in Vittoriosa.
But, in connection with this gorgeous view, a complaint by one and all kept recurring: some trees, especially an olive tree and a cypress tree, are so high that they are masking a considerable part of the Grand Harbour, a very big disappointment to the patients there.
Can the Parliamentary Secretary for Health, Chris Fearne, take action to have these obstructing trees removed for the benefit of those recovering at Boffa Hospital?
