I recently went to the Sliema primary school to change my identity card. The whole process went very smoothly and efficiently and at the end I was told that the new card would be delivered by our local postman. Nothing wrong with that. I was also told I had to hand in my old card to my postman.

I have full trust in our local postman, but is it possible – even remotely – that an ID card could end up in the wrong hands? I think a better solution would be for the old card to be destroyed in the postman’s presence. Better safe than sorry.
