Kelma Kelma, Nota Nota, the event that brings Maltese literature and music on stage together, is back for a series of concerts titled Kunċert tal-Qaddesin this summer.

The events marry different elements together. Starting with the music, a mix between traditional and contemporary, with arrangements by Big Band Brothers that promise to have everyone moving.

The programme includes both well-known tracks as well as new works that were written specifically for these concerts.

Then there’s language, which takes the forefront during these concerts, proving that in no way is Maltese dying out.

This is where the popular Facebook page Kelma Kelma really comes into its own, with puns, poetry and sketches highlighted by music.

The saints, so beloved by the Maltese, also get a look-in. From Sant’Antnin, who finds our lost items to Santa Barbara, who keeps bad happenings away from us.

The participation of renowned actor and singer Ray Calleja is another highlight.

During the concert Calleja will be hitting the high notes, rapping, duetting and reinterpreting famous works.

The other guests will include Daniel Cauchi, Kelma Kelma’s Michael Spagnol and other bulwarks of Maltese showbiz personalities.

After this week’s run of concerts, Kunċert tal-Qaddisin is back on July 28, 29 and 30 and August 25, 26 and 27 at 9pm at Pjazza Teatru Rjal, Valletta.

Tickets are available online and from the Embassy Cinema, Valletta.
