President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca urged the authorities to address court delays when she addressed a graduation ceremony for people who completed a drugs rehabilitation course at San Blas.

She said that those who managed to rehabilitate themselves from drug abuse should not see their efforts undone by court delays - which could send them back to prison after rehabilitation.

She said action was also needed to tackle situations where people who would have rehabilitated themselves still suffered because of what was on their conduct sheet. As a result, it was difficult for them to find a job and thus regain their dignity and stay out of harm's way.

Employers, who added, should not fear people who had opted to return to the road of dignity.

The President congratulated those who managed to reform themselves saying they had taken a wise decision for themselves and society.
