Some €6,500 were stolen from Fair Play, a gaming outlet, in a hold-up by an armed and hooded man last night, the police said.

The theft took place at about 9.50pm at Mosta Road, St Paul's Bay.

The knife-wielding thief threatened a 23-year-old shop employee and ran off with the money.

The police are investigating.

Two men attempted to hold up the same outlet at gunpoint less than two weeks ago, on June 14.

Reno Azzopardi, 30, of Cospicua, and 45-year-old Domenic Fava, from St Paul's Bay, were charged with the attempted robbery on June 17 and were remanded in custody after they pleaded not guilty.
