The leader of the Opposition and his motley crew are not so stupid as not to realise that they have no chance of attacking the Labour government’s excellent record on various fronts and be taken seriously by the vast majority of voters.

How can they attack this government on the way the economy is progressing, on the lowest deficit for decades, on the creation of jobs, on the lowest unemployment record ever, on the great advances in healthcare, on its tourism records and the great leap forward in education and social measures, which are being taken?

So they are concentrating all their efforts on trying to undermine the people’s trust in the Prime Minister and his government.

They are doing this by clutching on to any story, real or invented, and inflating it as much as possible with daily press conferences – at times three in one day!

This ploy helps to divert attention from the much more serious stories, based on fact and which had happened under PN governments, right up to March 2013, which have emerged since the change of government, such as the ‘works for votes’ in Gozo, the Mater Dei Hospital concrete swindle, which is costing taxpayers many millions of euros, and the latest story about the alleged ‘web’ created within the highest echelons of the civil service to pass sensitive information to the Opposition.

The PN is also trying to sow mistrust in the Prime Minister and the members of his Cabinet.

While we all know that politicians are not under oath to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, while it is their duty to speak about what they think or believe to be wrongdoings the Opposition are not entitled to misinform people recklessly or deliberately, just because it suits their political agenda.
