The Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (Mers), a lethal respiratory condition that has hit South Korea, has been described by the World Health Organisation as “large and complex”. WHO says more cases are anticipated.

The first case of Mers in South Korea was diagonised on May 20 and neighbouring immediately countries took severe steps to guard themselves against this deadly outbreak.

In spite of this dangerous epidemic, our university students are in South Korea to participate in the World Universities Games.

It is expected that on their arrival in Malta they should be medically examined thoroughly and a period of quarantine is observed as the virus takes time to be identified.
