Manchester City finished runners-up to champions Chelsea in the Premier League last season but their total of 83 goals scored was the best in the English championship.

The previous season, the Citizens also plundered the highest number of goals, 102, on their way to winning their second title in three years.

In 2014/15, City averaged more than two goals (2.18) per match in the Premier League.

Their top scorer was Argentine Sergio Aguero with a total of 26 goals, including two hat-tricks. He was followed by Spanish playmaker David Silva on 11 and Ivorian midfielder Yaya Toure on eight.

City scored their goals as follows: Six – once; five – once; four − five times; three − seven times; two − on 10 occasions; one − 11 times.

Other facts

The amount of 380 games played resulted in 172 home successes, 115 away wins and 93 draws.

From the total of 975 goals scored (77 down on previous season), 560 came from the home team and 415 for the away.

The average in the league was 2.57 goals per match.

Highest home score: eight, Southampton-Sunderland 8-0.

Highest away score: six, Everton-Chelsea 3-6.

Highest score draw: 3-3, Newcastle-Crystal Palace ; Newcastle-Burnley; Aston Villa-Queens Park Rangers.
