The Malta Communications Authority and the Malta Tourism Authority are organising free sessions to help tourism operators make effective use of digital channels.

“It is a question of survival for operators within the tourism industry to maximise the potential of digital channels to leverage the ability of consumers to interact and engage directly with them in a highly dense online environment,” the MCA said.

The short information sessions will introduce participants to the fundamentals of internet marketing, including online analytics, social media, customer reviews and online booking.

The sessions relates to a priority set out in the National Tourism Policy (2015-2020) as well as objectives under the Digital Malta Strategy.

A number of sessions, targeting different categories within the tourism and hospitality sector, will be rolled out over a number of months. Anyone interested in attending should contact the Malta Tourism Authority on 2291 5122 or e-mail training@visitmalta.com.

HSBC opens international banking centre in Sliema

HSBC Malta has opened an International Banking Centre in Sliema. The centre, located on the first floor of the bank’s branch in High Street, focuses on clients who travel extensively or who are relocating to or from Malta.

The IBC will be HSBC’s largest branch in Malta by number of clients and its 17 staff will offer customised services in banking, lending, investment and international account opening to both residents and non-resident personal clients.

“Customers will be able to benefit from the outstanding combination of local knowledge and the international strength, connectivity and experience of HSBC’s global network,” said HSBC Malta International Banking Centre head Christian Debono.

Partner agreement between Chamber and HSBC Bank

The Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry and HSBC Bank Malta have strengthened their relations through a Partner Support Agreement.

“With HSBC’s assistance over the past years we have carried out valuable work through our Internationalisation Desk, providing demand-driven services, inspired by an ongoing membership profiling exercise. The Malta Chamber’s efforts in this regard have made it possible for its members, especially smaller sized enterprises, to gear up for internationalisation, identifying markets for growth and expanding their reach,” chamber president Anton Borg said.

“HSBC Bank is the ideal partner to support the Malta Chamber’s internationalisation efforts with a presence in 70 countries round the globe.”

With HSBC’s ongoing support, the Malta Chamber has organised numerous initiatives, participating in several trade missions round the globe and welcoming other trade missions to Malta. In parallel, the Malta Chamber today boasts business councils for Germany, the Middle East, North Africa, Turkey and Scandinavia.
