In their first performance after seven years, Etnika gave a performance at Europe House in London to celebrate Malta’s EU accession.

Etnika are renowned for their innovative performances based on traditional folk and popular music, including the use of traditional instruments.

This was a highly emotive first concert after the recent resurgence of the project.

Playing to a full house and mixed audience of dignitaries, expat fans and friends, the band built its set to an ecstatic standing ovation and a moving encore.

The new, reduced line-up lent itself to stripped-to-essence arrangements, seducing the audience to a new level of intimacy without losing the trademark of captivating energy and musicianship.

The guests, some of whom already familiar with the band were delighted to once again experience some of their favourite tracks, a mix of haunting lullabies, children’s rhymes, offbeat cabaret and festive classics.

The band is currently preparing for the recording of a long-awaited new album and a string of international performances.
