Josef Calleja took part in the second round of the UK Time Attack Championship series, held recently at the Snetterton Circuit in Norfolk, England.

Conditions were not really ideal for racing with persistent rain making the track slippery and potentially dangerous for the drivers.

The circuit was totally new for Calleja inside his Subaru Impreza but he still finished with the fastest time for the Club 4WD category in the warm-up and practice sessions.

The bad weather receded before the qualifying session got underway and all drivers took the opportunity to post the fastest laps.

Originating on the speedways of Japan, time attack racing sees drivers compete against a clock, and not directly against each other.

Each car is timed over one lap of the circuit, and there are no other cars on the track at that time.

The track at Snetterton dried up in the final session and for most of the first 10 minutes of the race Calleja was leading his class.

However, he encountered fuel problems as the race evolved and was eventually beaten to the finish line by Damien Bradley, also in a Subaru Legacy.

Simon Griffiths (Mitsubishi Evo III) was third in the Club 4WD race behind Calleja.

In the overall standings, Bradley is leading the category with 20 points, four ahead of Calleja.

Griffiths has 15 points in third place.

The next race from the UK Time Attack Championship series will be held at Brands Hatch this Sunday.

The other rounds of the championship this season are scheduled for Outon Park (July 11), Croft (August 22) and Rockingham Speedway (September 19).
