EAR. On June 17, at Casa Arkati, Mosta, HARRY, aged 90, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Amy, his daughters Lorraine and Tania, their respective husbands Mario and Gino, his son Harry, his granddaughter Leeann, her husband Chris and his great-grandchildren Jake and Nicholai, his brother Frank, in-laws, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Casa Arkati tomorrow at 8.15am for St Mary parish church, Mosta, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.30am, followed by interment at Mosta Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal peace.

MERCIECA. On June 17, at Mater Dei Hospital, Fr DIONISIUS MERCIECA, OCD, priest at St Therese friary, Birkirkara, aged 91, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss the Discalced Carmelite Fathers, his brothers Fr Ġwakkin Mercieca, OFM Cap. and Lonzu and his wife Maria, his sisters Ġużeppa, Liza, Rita and Mary, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.
Tomorrow, Fr Dionisius will be lying in state at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Hall, Birkirkara (kunvent il-qadim) from 9.30am onwards. On Saturday, June 20 at 9am a funeral cortège leaves Our Lady of Mount Carmel Hall, Birkirkara, for St Therese Sanctuary, Birkirkara, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 9.15am, followed by interment. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

MICALLEF. On June 17, at Karin Grech Rehabilitation Centre, CARMELA of Ħamrun, widow of Ernest, at the venerable age of 95, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Doris and her husband Richard, Myriam and her husband Eddie, Leslie, widower of her daughter Polly, Vera and her husband Tony, Ernest and his wife Doris, Alfred and his wife Iris, Gejtu and his wife Marlene, Tony and his wife Doreen, Joe and his wife Elizabeth, Raymond and his wife Carmen, and Carmen and her husband Mario, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Karin Grech Rehabilitation Centre tomorrow at 7.45am for the Immaculate Conception parish church, Ħamrun, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.15am, followed by interment at the Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, Dingli. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

WILLIAMS. On May 30, JOHN, residing in England, aged 68. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Mary, daughter Julie and her husband John, his son Gareth and daughter Laura, his beloved grandson Austin, his two brothers and one sister, cousins and friends and his wife’s sisters and brothers. The funeral Mass will be held at Lija parish church on Monday, June 22 at 4pm, followed by interment at Lija cemetery.

In Memoriam

AMATO – VICTOR. In memory of a true gentleman who we remember with such fondness and love. This the 22nd anniversary of his passing into eternal life. His wife, Erminia, his children and grandchildren.

Inter-religious dialogue

The Fondation de Malte, which set up the Father Peter Memorial Lecture shortly after the death of Father Peter Serracino Inglott three years ago, will this year incorporate its annual memorial lecture in a seminar jointly organised with the Faith and Justice Commission on Muslim and Christian relations.

The lecture ‘Is Inter-religious dialogue really possible?’, at the Aula Magna, Valletta, campus today at 6pm, will be delivered by Father Josep Buades Fuster, director of CeiMigra Spain, an institute for the formation and social integration of migrants.
