Chelsea thoroughly deserved their fourth Premier League title − three of which coming with manager Jose Mourinho at the helm.

Burnley put up some brave resistance in their second appearance in the Premier League − after the other short stay of season 2009-10.

Sean Dyche showed that he could have gained more positive results had his hands not been tied with a restricted budget.

The Blues’ fifth title in their 110-year history came in style, claiming the silverware with three matches still to play.

Last season, all domestic prizes went to sides from the capital, with Arsenal lifting the FA Cup and Chelsea also claiming the League Cup.

The top three performers for Chelsea were Cesc Fabregas, Eden Hazard and Diego Costa.

Hazard won both the Football Writers and PFA player of the year awards. Fabregas was the top passer and the best assist man in the Premier League while Costa was prolific in front of goal.

Another stalwart for Chelsea was skipper John Terry. His strike against Liverpool in the home 1-1 draw was his 39th in the English top-flight and it meant a new record... becoming the all-time best scoring defender in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, the writing was on the wall for Burnley who only chalked up their first win after 11 matches against Hull in November.

Attacker Danny Ings was their main attraction and his scoring exploits in January gave Dyche’s side some hopes for the rest of the Premier League campaign.

But they failed to maintain any sort of consistency and it ended up being a season of frustration as the Lancashire side were the league’s lowest scorers.

Chelsea failed to stamp their authority in the Champions League. After emerging from the group phase as leaders, they were ousted by PSG on the away goals rule.

In the FA Cup, Chelsea fell at home to League One side Bradford City 4-2 in the fourth round.

But, in the League Cup the Blues went all the way to the final where they beat Tottenham 2-0 at Wembley.

Burnley were eliminated in the earliest rounds in both cup competitions − at Tottenham 2-4 after a replay in the FA Cup and to Championship side Sheffield Wed. 0-1 at Turf Moor in the League Cup.
