Has anyone ever worked out the cost in man hours that traffic jams are having on our economy, not to mention the effect on our health due to pollution and stress?

It is taking hours, for people to get to work and return home. It takes me 45 minutes to travel from Ta’ l-Ibraġ to St Julian’s every morning.

Is it possible that we have no expert in traffic management in this country who can come up with a solution to address this growing problem? It is getting worse every day.

Maybe it is about time to look into getting a ‘foreign’ expert to advise us.

Improving public transport is one solution and the sooner this gains the trust of the publicthe better.

Having too many road works being carried out at the same time is also causing too much confusion. Road works need to be planned more carefully and works need to be speeded up and done with quality material to avoid having to redo the job.

What baffles me, and I am no traffic expert, is that we know that roundabouts do not solve our problems, yet we keep on building them all over the place.

I feel that flyovers would ensure a much smoother flow of traffic and reduce the creation of bottle necks at certain junctions.

I believe that whatever this costs, it will always be justified. We simply cannot continue like this anymore.

Incidentally, there also needs to be a plan for parking in this country.

It is becoming practically impossible to park anywhere and I am sure that this is also having an impact on our economy. This is also leading to cars double parking and stopping in no-stop areas, causing more traffic chaos.
