The share index ended this morning’s session practically unchanged at 4,064.931 points as the gains in three equities were offset by declines in Bank of Valletta  and Midi.

The share price of GO advanced by a further 0.6 per cent to a fresh eight-year high of €3.20 across 9,130 shares. Similarly, RS2 Software closed at the €1.73,5 level for the first time in its seven-year trading history representing a 0.2 per cent increase over the previous closing price across eight trades totalling 46,000 shares. The equity of RS2 briefly touched a new record of €1.73,9.

Likewise, Medserv reached a fresh all-time high of €2.27,5 across three deals totalling 5,465 shares. Medserv is expected to distribute its final net dividend of 5c6 per share to all shareholders by not later than June 23.

On the other hand, the share price of Bank of Valletta slipped 0.1 per cent lower back to the €2.29 level across 11 trades totalling 31,878 shares.

Similarly, Midi retreated by 2.7 per cent back to the 33c1 level across a single trade of 10,000 shares.

Meanwhile, HSBC maintained the €1.82 level after recovering from an intra-day low of €1.80,8 on volumes of 36,722 shares. Also in the financial sector, FIMBank held on to the 46c5US level on volumes of 36,000 shares.

Likewise, International Hotel Investments held on to the 92c level after again failing to hold on to an intra-day high of 92c8 on volumes of 10,000 shares.

The only other active equity was Malta International Airport with 1,800 shares trading unchanged at the €3.36,9 level.

On the bond market, the Rizzo Farrugia MGS Index rebounded by 0.2 per cent to 1,119.504 points in line with the retreat in the benchmark yields of Spain and Italy in contrast to yesterday’s sharp rally.

Meanwhile, the benchmark 10-year German Bund yield continued to trade around the 0.8 per cent level despite the looming possibility of a Greek exit from the eurozone as the Mediterranean country and its international creditors fail to find common ground to secure a new debt deal.
