Can any reader recommend a restaurant in either Gozo or Malta where the sue of mobile phones, iPads, game consoles and so on is discouraged?

It has become more and more annoying to try enjoying a pleasant meal out with friends or relatives only to be seated next to a table where people are constantly sending and receiving text messages, often to each other across the table. Not just children, either, but mature adults playing the online game Candy Crush while struggling with a plate of spaghetti...

A polite notice to esteemed clientele would do: “Kindly note, this is a no-WiFi restaurant. Out of respect for other diners we ask our customers to kindly turn off all mobile devices whilst dining. However, we do encourage our customers to indulge in the art of normal human conversation. Thank you for your cooperation. The management.”

Bon appétit.
