The Italian embassy in Malta celebrated Italy’s National Day on June 2. Attending the event was President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, Archbishop Charles Scicluna, Government and Opposition MPs, members of the diplomatic corps and Italian Senator Laura Bianconi.

Italian Ambassador Giovanni Umberto De Vito highlighted the close ties that exist between Italy and Malta and the intense and fruitful collaboration between both governments especially in the areas of migration and energy.

Special mention was given to Milano Expo 2015 currently being held in Milan. Guests were able to taste food specialities and wine from various regions offered by Italian companies in Malta.

A dancing water and light display to the music of famous Italian opera arias in Marsamxett Harbour, Valletta, was the highlight of the evening.
